Taking its brand of pure country music into the homes of nearly 30 million viewers, The Cumberland Highlanders' Show is America's first nationwide television show dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of one of the nation's unique art forms--traditional Kentucky Bluegrass Music. Set in the highlands of Southeast Kentucky, the show mixes pure mountain music with the natural scenic beauty of Kentucky's Appalachian region. Over the past four years, the show has aired more than one hundred 30-minute episodes.
The dedication to preserving the traditional bluegrass sound prompted singer/songwriter/mandolin player Dr. Campbell Mercer to form the Cumberland Highlanders nearly a decade ago. The line-up now includes four of Bill Monroe's former Bluegrass Boys, the composer of the music to 1998's Bluegrass Song of the Year, and more!
Legendary Guests.....like Dr. Ralph Stanley (Amazon.com's Country Music Entertainer of the Year) and his Clinch Mountain Boys, James Monroe (son of Bill Monroe--the Father of Bluegrass Music), have delighted viewers with favorites, old and new.
The Cumberland Highlanders' Show also showcases regional greats from the Southern Highlands, and rising young talents who are carrying on the bluegrass tradition for future generations to enjoy!
